John Hayman, Founder and Chief Investment Officer
John Hayman is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Capital Advantage. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and an Investment Advisor Representative. John received a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science with a subspecialty in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley (Berkeley, California) in 1981.
As a direct response to what he saw as a lack of client focus in the financial services industry, John created what is now Capital Advantage, Inc. in 1982. He is proud to have successfully built an independent investment firm that acts as a fiduciary and strives to provide peace of mind to each and every client.
Now that he is supported by an experienced team of financial advisors and a skilled support staff, John spends as much time with his family as possible. He lives with his wife in Orinda, and has two adult daughters. His love of animals is evidenced by his devotion his three dogs and two cats. When he’s not cheering courtside at a Cal Berkeley game, John can be found enjoying the great outdoors by boat, motorcycle or foot.

Donna Zinman, Principal, Executive Vice President
Donna Zinman is a Principal and the Executive Vice President at Capital Advantage. She is a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) and an Investment Advisor Representative. As a Senior Financial Advisor, she is part of the investment team and is responsible for establishing new client relationships, managing investment portfolios and financial planning, as well as firm marketing and human resource management. Donna specializes in working with women in transition: about to retire, newly retired, widowed or divorced.
Donna began her career in the financial services industry in 1989. After working as a Bank Officer at Wells Fargo, she joined Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. as a Financial Consultant. She joined Capital Advantage in 2004.
Donna received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from California State University at San Francisco (San Francisco, California) in 1986 and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Golden Gate University (San Francisco, California) in 1995. She also holds a Certificate in Financial Planning from the University of California at Berkeley (Berkeley, California).
Donna lives with her husband and daughter in Moraga. She currently serves on the Investment Committees for both the Moraga Education Foundation and the East Bay Cancer Support Community, a non-profit that provides support and care for cancer patients and their loved ones. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family—hiking, swimming, tennis and cooking are among her family’s favorite activities.

During Ben’s college years, he spent a year abroad in Israel, where he volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician at Magen David Adom, the Israeli national emergency medical service.

Dawnalizabeth Henke is a Principal and the Chief Compliance and Operating Officer at Capital Advantage. She is an Investment Advisor Representative, and as part of the management team, she supervises the departments responsible for the day-to-day functionality of the organization. She oversees all internal processes and procedures, and is responsible for designing and implementing programs, policies, and practices to ensure that all business units are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Dawnalizabeth began her financial services career in 1998 as a Financial Analyst at a private wealth management firm in Oakland. She joined Capital Advantage in 2006.
Dawnalizabeth received a Bachelor’s Degree in History from California State University at Hayward (Hayward, California) in 2004. Colin Taylor is a Principal and the Director of Investment Management at Capital Advantage. Colin holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation and is an Investment Advisor Representative. As a leader of the investment team, Colin provides investment and market commentary, security selection and analysis, portfolio management strategies, and asset allocation recommendations. He is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of the organization’s portfolio management, asset allocation, and trading systems.
Colin began his financial services career in 2001 as a Mutual Fund Analyst for Prima Capital in Denver, Colorado. From 2002 through 2006, he worked for TechFi Corp. and Advent Software, Inc. (acquired by TechFi), providing out-sourced back office operations support to investment advisors. In 2006, Colin joined a private wealth management firm in Oakland, serving as the Director of Operations. He joined Capital Advantage in 2011.

Jeannie Churchill is the Manager of Client Services at Capital Advantage. She is a Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional (FPQPTM) and an Investment Advisor Representative. She is responsible for maintaining client accounts, developing client relationships, and assisting with sales and marketing projects and events.
Jeannie began her financial services career in 1983 at Home Savings of America. Over her 15-year career with the company, she transitioned through various positions ranging from Customer Service to Vice President Manager. In 1998, she joined Litman/Gregory Asset Management, LLC, and over 13 years, was promoted from Portfolio Administrator to Senior Partnership Administrator to Manager of Partnership Services. She joined Capital Advantage in 2011.

Amy Langell is the Operations Assistant at Capital Advantage. Amy began her financial services career in 1999, where she worked for many years in the client advisory group within the private wealth management division of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette/Credit Suisse First Boston. Since that time she has worked with independent financial advisors as a registered sales assistant. Amy joined Capital Advantage in 2016.

Selma began her financial services career as an Operations Specialist at Chase Bank in Lafayette, CA. Her charismatic personality and attentive client service led to her promotion to Lead Operations Specialist in her first year. Prior to joining Chase Bank, Selma was a Head Teacher at Kid’s Country Day School in San Ramon. She joined Capital Advantage in March 2019.
Born in Algeria, Selma speaks fluent Arabic. Her family moved to California in 2000, and she currently lives in Pleasant Hill with her husband and two young sons. When not working, Selma enjoys riding BMX bikes, horseback riding, driving adventures with her husband’s Classic Car Club, and cheering on her favorite sports team – Go Warriors!
